On the creative writing side
- Wrote and published a number of posts for The Ode Map
- Wrote and scheduled a post for The Ode Map
- Drafted an Ode Map post about randomness
- Reviewed and edited some Ode Map boiler plate copy & settings
- Worked on the introduction for the reprint of ‘Getting it out of my System’.
The more I work on the reprint, and the additional sections I’m adding, It’s becoming less of a poetry book, and more of a personal development book, punctuated by poems.
On the work side
- I got very frustrated with LinkedIn (mobile app) when it decided to refresh its feed whilst I was half-way through reading something that I could then not find. The most annoying thing is that it refreshed because my phone received a notification - not from LinkedIn, it was an email I think. Made me so angry.
- I deep cleaned one of my whiteboards and then proceeded to populate it with current projects and next steps. I use magnetic index cards as it’s easier to move them around than having to erase and re-write directly on the board [top tip 😂].
- GTM tweaks for my various sites. A necessary evil that I wish I could offload onto someone else. I’m in the ‘a little knowledge is a dangerous thing’ phase with GTM & search console, but have no desire to become an expert. If anyone knows of a ‘GTM expert’ custom GTP, I’d be interested.
- Outlined 3 blog post/articles that ‘came to me’ whilst doing other things and which are now parked ready for when I feel like thinking about them.
On the work/hobby boundary
- Created 3 custom GPTs to better manage my creative writing - a project manager, a marketing/publishing expert, and a ‘sounding board’. Once I’ve used these and I’m happy with them, I will look at creating Open AI Assistants from them that I can use in automations. It’s not that I want to necessarily automate any of these GTPs, but I do need to learn how to do it, and these are useful for experimenting.
I watched some telly:
- An unsuitable job for a woman - I never saw this when it first came out. I’ve just watched the first story so far, but will continue.
- Person of Interest - Happened upon an episode (S2E22) whilst channel-hopping. I was an avid watcher when these first landed on UK terrestrial TV, but as each series went on, I lost interest; it just felt like it was going nowhere.
- Departure - Series 2, and Series 3. They’ve now covered air, land and sea. I’m not expecting a series 4 (unless they intend to investigate an outer-space-based disaster). All 3 series were good with lots of twists and red herrings. Formulaic, but entertaining.
I listened to:
- An old BBC Home Service episode of ‘Frankly Speaking’ - an interview with Dame Edith Sitwell. The episode was originally broadcast in September 1955, but was recently replayed on BBC Radio 4 Extra and is available until mid-October on BBC Sounds.
- Caught up on recent ‘More or Less’ podcast episodes
- ‘Add to Playlist’ (BBC Radio 4 / podcast) - last of the series. Boo!
- TRON: Ares (soundtack) - NiN
- A thousand songs about it all: Act 1 - Madilyn Mei
- Kala - M.I.A
