A fair week, all things considered.
On the non-work front:
- My son’s new car was delivered on Wednesday, which means I no longer have to pick him up from his late shifts.
- I taxed and renewed my own car’s insurance. Managed to save quite a bit by shopping around 🎉
- I finished watching series 3 of ‘The Chelsea Detective’. Feeling a little sad that there are no more episodes.
- Watched ‘A Murder is Announced’ (in 3 parts, shown back-to-back on the BBC).
- Listened to ‘Moisturiser’, by Wet Leg.
- Listened to Madilyn Mei's entire output. I have a playlist with just her music on it, called 'Unstress'.
On the work(ish) front:
- I attended the Tech South West Rooftop Summer Social. What with my introversion / anxiety and the fact that I’ve not attended anything solo for quite a while, I did feel a bit out of place for a little while. But, I ended up talking to a number of very interesting people about: strategy management / agile strategy delivery / strategy-as-a-service; ethical AI; Neurodiversity; the Reef app; fractional employment.
- Going to IRL events is definitely a must. I wouldn’t have had these interactions at a virtual meet-up or conference and, well, it’s just nice to get out now and again.
- Created a couple of AirTable dashboards for the core GovCamp Cymru team so we can visualise ticket distribution and volunteer sign-ups.
- I had a great discussion about a fractional Head of Operations role. I’m really hoping that it comes to something, as it sounds really fascinating.
- I didn’t do much ‘strategically’, but not too worried. These things come in bursts and I need to listen to my own rhythms and take advantage when the time’s right.
On the side-hustle front:
- Topped up my creative writing ‘ideas’ pot by reviewing recent social media prompts. When you’re really out of ideas, a bit of randomness helps. I wrote about it here.
- Started drafting a new poem - notionally called ‘Today / tomorrow’.
